Speak To Me

When I started this painting, I had selected a color palette from my Color Cube. I loved the colors. Deep brick red, muted red violet, deep blue violet, a creamy white, and semi-muted bright yellow. What's not to love?! Lots of collage went in, then lots of painting over it. Then more collage, more paint and finally some mark making and toning down the entire painting with the neutral-ish whites. My challenge with this was painting over these colors I loved so much, they were just too much...too deep and dark. I wanted them to be there, but more subtle. Also challenging to leave a lot of the paint transparent enough for the colors and shapes underneath to peek through. Very in depth process, this one. But lots of love throughout!
