About the Artist

Becky Chappell - Biography

Becky Chappell was born in Washington state and currently lives in Nehalem, Oregon.  As long as she can remember, Becky has been drawing, and as a child dreamed of becoming an artist. Becky was greatly influenced by the impressionist artists and by the natural world around her. As an adult, she became influenced by pastel artists such as Karen Margulis, Marla Baggetta, Gail Sibley, Dawn Emerson, Debora Stewart, Alain Picard and others, as well as the beautiful nature of the many places she traveled. She also became drawn to abstract art, and such artists as Flora Bowley, Pat Dews, Pam Caughey and many others. She loves the depth created with layering, mark making, organic shapes, and mixed mediums. Becky works in oil and cold wax medium, pastel, acrylic, collage, and watercolor. Becky graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art with an AA in graphic design, realizing soon after that fine art was her passion. She has taken many art courses throughout her years as an artist, both in person and online. Becky currently is a member of Trails End Art Association, Cannon Beach Art Association, and Bay City Art Association. Becky has exhibited in Colorado for over 20 years and currently exhibits her work in Oregon.
